Las Vegas: Hits And Misses On A Tight Budget

On Saturday, Aug. 31, 9:30-10:45 a.m., All About Yoga is offering a class at no cost. It is a level two beginner’s class that will explore the area between a beginning and intermediate yoga practice.

There are a ton of things you can do and see while in Vegas. One thing you can do which can take days is to visit all of the hotels on the Strip. Each hotel has something unique to offer and so much of it is free as well. From the Bellagio’s water entertainment and it’s botanical gardens to the Mirage with it’s volcano.

Since my notes on ‘very affordable’ Las Vegas are 98 pages long, we will focus on ‘free’ and ‘dirt cheap’ instead. There is a way to have a blast for next to nothing if you plan a little in advance. And you can still find free stuff if you know where to look.

The 2011 Miss America Pageant is being held in Las Vegas at the planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. The eleven day event kicks off Thursday at 4:00 p.m. with the arrival of all 53 contestants in front of Planet Hollywood. This event is open to the public and is one of many events featuring the contestants this week in Las vegas. On Saturday, January 8th, the women will take part in a runway show at the fashion show mall featuring Joseph Ribkoff designs. The women will be signing autographs after the show.

Lucy, a store that sells active wear for women, including a line of yoga clothing, is located in Town Square. Every Sunday at 9:00 a.m., the store holds either a free yoga or Pilates class. You must bring your own mat.

Also don’t forget about hotel coupons that all hotels offer their guests. A lot of times there will be buy one get one free coupons that will really come in handy and consider finding out where all the locals hang out. More than likely they’ll be hanging out at places with good food at lower prices.

We also tried some very nice restaurants. Vegas has really become quite the foodie destination. Many celebrity chefs have opened up some really nice places. Too bad we can’t afford to visit those, but if you’ve ever watched the food Network, you can taste the foods of Bobby Flay, Emeril, the Too Hot Tamales and many more.
